Background: The X linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) is a peroxisomal disease caused by defects of the ABCD1 gene on chromosome Xq28. This disease is characterized by progressive neurologic dysfunction, and occasionally associated with adrenal insufficiency.
